Have you ever faced death? I did when I had a heart attack over Thanksgiving 2020 at the age of 33. Since then, I’ve been on a journey to understand how diseases like diabetes work and how we can use all forms of technology to improve our daily lives.
Hi, I’m Nirave, a 37-year-old tech journalist who has reviewed consumer tech for 18 years. I’ve worked for some of the biggest niche tech websites in the world — XDA, Android Authority, Android Central, and more — and currently contribute to Forbes, Android Police, and others.
From the excellent to the fuhgeddaboudit, we’ll help evaluate tech by asking a few simple questions:
Does this matter?
Why does this matter?
If so, how much will this improve my life?
There are a few options for you, depending on your tastes, for what I write and share that you might find interesting. Click through the various sections at the top — full transparency, many are being built out and I’m working on publishing content all the time — in case you want more in-depth information about the various areas I’ll cover.
But for now, here is a brief overview of the kind of emails I’ll be sending out:
Consumer Tech: a general catch-all for tech stories that don’t fit into the few major buckets broken out below.
Heart Healthy: a deeper dive into the habits, science, technology and data I’ve used to rebuild my cardiovascular health. As you can imagine, this is very important to me, and part of Impact’s core mission is to help people realize it’s not too late to live a heart healthy life.
Diabetic Dilemmas: diabetes doesn’t need to be a death knell. I remember vividly my diabetes diagnosis, and I have so many stories to share about the science and technology that’s helped me recover.
News & Analysis: The short-form Impact stories. Whereas Consumer Tech is more opinion-driven, this section is the raw news with a new format focused on the questions we asked above. I can’t wait to share some of these stories with you!
Reviews & Guides: The long-form reviews and guides focusing on diving deep into how specific technology products and features are having an impact. There’s so much to unpack here, and I’ve got some exciting — and exclusive — products and stories that I’ve been working on covering!
